Economist and Managing Partner of Suther Holler Associates
Christopher Rees is an economist and Managing Partner of Suthey Holler Associates, a consulting firm specialized in project concept and management particularly in relation to bioproducts and renewable energy. Mr. Rees was one of the initiators of the Canadian Ecology Centre (CEC), based in Mattawa, Northern Ontario and which served as the model for the EcoLarose project. Mr. Rees was Chair of the Board of the CEC for four years, bringing the Centre to a successful and self-sustaining entity. Christopher has also been Chair of the Board of CanBio, the former Ottawa-based voice of the Canadian bioeconomy industry. In addition, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Industrial Bioproducts Value Chain Committee (IBVCC) of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). Major recent clients for consulting assignments have included La Cité, Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation, Industry Canada, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ontario Power Authority, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Government of Alberta and the City of Toronto.
For many years Mr. Rees was Director of the International Chamber of Commerce based in Paris, France, travelling the world widely in that capacity.
Christopher recently assisted the Ottawa French-language college, La Cité, for the development and funding of "Place La Cité" – a $30 million building project to be completed in 2018. He is currently representing the Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation for the re-development of the former University of Guelph agricultural college in Alfred, Ontario.
Mr. Rees resides with his wife in Tamworth, just north of Kingston. His daughter, Katrina, is pursuing graduate studies in international business at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
